Windows 8 Demo Mode Issues

I bought two display laptops from Walmart with Windows 8 on them. Cannot get either out of demo mode. I called our local Walmart and they said they had no idea how to handle it, as a third party comes in and sets them up for them.

Surely Microsoft will help out with this matter, as they can confirm with Walmart that I paid for these two laptops? Help!!!

Hi Julianne,

I would have you go back to the store as to where you purchased the computer and ask them for the password for the demo account, they are the only ones who can provide you with password for the demo account. Every store has instructions on how to install and uninstall demo software.

Once you get the password, you may log in to the demo account and create a new account.

Thank you for telling me this, but that was the first thing I tried, as I had read that is what others suggested in the past. Walmart still has not been able to help me, as they said they have never been given that info, as a third party comes in and sets up the display computers for them and installs that software. Tomorrow they said somebody may be in via the morning and can possible help me, but they doubt it and if not, there is nothing they can do. So we now have owned these two laptops for almost a week that we cannot use. Wish they would have stuck with Windows 7, as this has put a very sour taste in our mouths for Windows 8.

Walmart told me to contact you, since it is your software. I can prove with receipts and serial numbers that we bought both of the computers. It's not like they are stolen. This is ridiculous that nobody can help us remove this stupid demo software so we can use them. Am I honestly going to have to pay to have a professional strip windows off our computers so we can use them, because Microsoft cannot help us deal with this demo mode they came up with. I keep reading of all sorts of people having the same issues. :(
