Windows 8 and Microsoft Account - can't log in to either

I bought Windows 8, which pushes you to tie the login to a Microsoft Account.  I couldn't get it to take my password, and tried resetting it online.  I could successfully change it online, but could never get Windows 8 to accept it. After many attempts, I closed that online Microsoft account.

Now I can't access my administrator account in Windows 8.

I also can't open a new Microsoft Account with that login, because it says it is taken.  When I try to reset the password, it says the account doesn't exist.

It is my own email address that is being used.  I have looked everywhere in the Microsoft Account pages, but it appears that they have NO support.  I tried to go to the Windows 8 support page, because after all, I  did just purchase that software.  But it walks you through the "knowledge" base, which leads right back to the Microsoft Account page with NO suppport.

Does anyone know how I can contact Microsoft to get this account fixed?

For people that are thinking of buying Windows 8, I would not recommend that you tie your login to their website.

I've had a similar, but not identical problem to this today.

Upgraded to Windows 8 a few weeks ago and it's been working fine. This morning it installed some updates, and after the restart is refusing to let me log-in using my Microsoft account - keeps saying the password is incorrect.

I've changed the password twice online since and can get into Hotmail, Messenger etc but Windows 8 refuses to let me log in using the original password, nor either of the new ones.

So, now I'm stuck and unable to use my laptop because I can't log in! Complete shambles from Microsoft! I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I am not asking about TiminAustin but am getting the same problem with login on windows 8 start.
The computer has been off line for three months and now refuses to let me use my password. The password has been confirmed as I am able still to use the p/w for all my email applications with my apple ipad. It is confirmed and my hotmail.com is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
I don't want to get another hotmail account and, obviously, if I even wanted to, I can't access my windows 8
To do so!!
I've tried by contacting you, but I am not even able to remember any of my card details as I've never bought anything from you except new OS's from stores.
I hope this still reaches you. If so PLEASE contact me by the above email account.
Thanks

Just to let you know, I never received any response from Microsoft on this issue and my issue was never resolved.

I have tried changing passwords several times, but I cannot get Windows 8 and Live working on the same account.

There is a serious bug, but I guess Microsoft is not capable of fixing it.

I'm in the same boat.

My new Windows 8 device is forcing me to open a Microsoft Account using an e-mail address as the ID.

#1

Microsoft advertises this as "one easy way to login to everything". But they seem to forget, that my life doesn't revolve around Microsoft. I have my own home network, where I have ID's  and passwords setup so I can access each PC to share files. When I'm logged in to my new Windows 8 device, I no longer have access to my other computers on my home network.

This forced Microsoft account sign up is for the purpose of easily buying APPS at the Windows Store. It would make more sense (as most businesses do) to open an account with their store and login at the time of purchase, and log out when I'm done, instead of having to login first thing in the morning.

#2

I have purchased a number of books from the Kindle Store on Amazon. When I'm logged into my own personal Admin account, I can't download the books I have already purchased. If I download books while logged in to the Microsoft account, I can't read those books or even see them when I'm logged in with my personal Admin account. Also can't download books when logged in with my own personal Admin account.

While the operating system seems to have a nice flow once you get used to it, forcing users to create a Microsoft account to login is way over the top.

My friend, I returned the Windows 8 laptop and purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 Pro. Microsoft went too far forcing you to login with Microsoft email account ID.

For someone that has their own network, with specific existing Admin ID's that are recognized on all other networked computers, it became too much of hassle to stick Windows 8.

Microsoft needs to revisit their setup process. They need to work their app store the same way Apple does. If you want to buy a Windows 8 app, you login with an account ID to access the Windows 8 app store and not when you login first thing in the morning. They've taken way too much control.
