Sorry, we couldn´t connect to Microsoft services right now.

Hey, i got Windows 8 as soon as it was available on the "MSDN" and have been enjoying it a lot, but when the real Windows launched and i wanted to make my local account a Microsoft account it started giving me this error

"Sorry, we couldn't connect to Microsoft services right now. If this problem persists, search for "network problems" on the start screen"

I have been looking through the internet for a fix, but i could not find one.
I dont run behind a proxy, as far as i know.
I dont have any antivirus except the built in

I would be glad if anyone could try and help me out TY :D

Hi,

What do you mean "i wanted to make my local account a Microsoft account"?

A local account is a offline account used to login to Windows 8 however with this account you can only browse the Windows store but need to have a Microsoft account to buy or download a free App.

A “Microsoft account” is a new name for Microsoft’s online account system, which was previously known as Windows Live ID, Microsoft Passport, and Microsoft Wallet, among other names.

If you’ve ever registered for a Hotmail account or Windows Live ID; that’s a Microsoft account. Microsoft accounts are now also used for other Microsoft services, including Xbox Live, Windows Phone, and Zune.

While most Microsoft accounts will probably be associated with an @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, or @live.com email address, you can create a Microsoft account linked to any email address. For example, you could have a Microsoft account linked to your @gmail.com email address.

So open one of the services webpage and create a free account and then try to login to Windows 8.

i think i am having the same problems with this frosbe.

i am trying to make my "local account" into microsoft account. so i go to charms ->settings-> change PC settings ->USERS-> switch to microsoft account -> it asks for my password, i give it -> it asks for my email ( i use my @live.com account) -> it says please wait.... -> then "Sorry, we couldn't connect to microsoft services right now. if the problem persists search for "network problems" on the start screen."

it gives me that.
i am connected to the internet.
no results for "network problems" on the start screen as well.

any help will be appreciated.
 thanks

I might look in Control Panel / Credentials / Windows Credentials

make sure my email address there is to live/Hotmail or where ever your Microsoft account is and has the working password.
