Hi there,

I turned off the password request in the admin account, and since then I have lost administrative rights. When I follow your instructions above I get the following error in the cmd window: "System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied".

Any time I try to perform adnin tasks I'm asked for a smart card, which I do not have. How do I get around this and regain my admin rights?

Thanks

Hello George Everdell,

Since you have deleted your administrator account, you don't have permission to do administrative tasks. The only thing I can think of is to do a refresh of your operating system. Click on the link here to show how to refresh your Windows 8 operating system.

Refreshing your PC keeps your personal files, settings, and the apps that came with your PC and apps that you installed from Windows Store. Any app such as Office or apps that you installed from media or download other than the Windows Store will be deleted.

Most of the time you could do a system restore but it requires administrative privilege which you no longer have.

Please reply back and let us know if this helps.

Hi Marilyn,

Thank you for your reply. I followed your instructions, but in the PC settings under the refresh option, it says...

"To use this feature, sign in as administrator"

Help!

Thanks
