A file named "END" appeared on my C:\ drive?

I have never seen this file before.

Does anyone have any ideas of where the file came from?

I really don't know where it came from and I'd like to know some details about it.

Here is another forum question about the same file from Tom'sHardware.com but with no answer.

I had that file too.  Spybot S&D removed it saying it was malware, no specifics on what it does.  I don't have Photoshop so it isn't from that.

I have it too and opened it up in notepad - 1 line and says "ConduitOK"

That Conduit search tracking hijack software is all over my machine making it hard to fully remove it clean.  They should be thrown in jail for creating this.

Mine comes from Star Wars the old republic. Have absolutely no idea what it is for or what it does.

I found a file named end dated 24/04/2015 (4 bytes) on C:\. I opened it in a text viewer which showed the letters "OK" (with quotes). I have no idea what it's for and I only noticed it today.

Have the same file under the latest build of Windows 10.
I also have SW:TOR and Photoshop. It was created a few days back.

No conduit infection as far as I know.

No infection alert or anything like that ever displayed.

I was able to delete this file without issues other than it needed admin rights.

This strange  "END" file appeared this afternoon on both my new Windows 10 PC and my old Windows 7 PC.

I opened it with notepad and the text (on both of them) was:

<html><head><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://search.charter.net/index.php?origURL=http://wod.soe.com/&bc="/></head><body><script type="text/javascript">window.location="http://search.charter.net/index.php?origURL="+escape(window.location)+"&r="+escape(document.referrer)+"&bc=";</script></body></html>

Anyone have a clue what that is?
