windows 8 picture app

I have a new windows 8 touch screen with multiple apps.  I am having problems with the pictures app.  I have pictures saved to my Pictures folder on my computer and was able to see these pictures in my pictures app.

I have added Facebook pictures to this app and now I cannot view my pictures from my pictures file on my computer.  I keep getting the message that I have no pictures and to set up my picture library from explorer.

When I try this I have no idea of how to set it up

Why did it empty my original pictures from this app?

Should I reinstall it?

I need help.

Thanks

Answer

Reinstalling it might work, but try this first.

  1. Go to the Desktop and open File Explorer.
  2. On the left side, under libraries section, click Pictures.
  3. Are your pictures there?  If not, right-click the Pictures folder and choose Properties.  Then, click Add Location and add the folder where your pictures are stored so they can be shown in this library (and the app).
