Streaming Windows 8 Music Library to Xbox 360

Xbox 360 can't stream music using the System Music Player from my Windows 8 PC (factory installed), but it can play videos from the same PC.

 

According to this forum, there appears to be an issue with Windows 8 -- which prevents music libraries of more than 250 albums to stream: http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/f/30/p/440721/2498543.aspx#2498543

 

And as is the case with many others in this thread, the "Play To" feature interestingly works, allowing the Xbox to play music that is "pushed" to it.

Called Xbox support, and the tech support person stepped me through all the settings, making sure all the proper settings were on, ranging from sharing/permissions to services. The problem remains and it appears to be an issue outside the domain of the Xbox people as it is caused by Windows 8.

 

Even more puzzling: A Windows 7 laptop on the same network can stream music from the Windows 8 PC -- and the same Xbox can stream music from the Windows 7 laptop on the network. Go figure.

 

Running Windows 8 fully updated. Xbox 360 (phat/HDMI) fully updated. Running Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. No third party firewall software or anti-virus installed on the PC.

You may also make sure that the sharing is turned “ON” for the network to which the computer is connected. You can refer this link for that:
