How to make Xbox Music app keep playing when switching away from it?

Ok, this HAS to  be a setting but I can't find it. But I open the music app, start playing music, click on the start page to start using the browser or do anything else and the music stops playing, or goes so low you cant hear it (even though volume is up) and when you switch back to the app the music pauses all together. This cant be the intended behavior, playing background music on a pc is pretty much required!
Thanks for any suggestions, I like the music app, but I need to be able to "multitask" when im listening to music.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to reply for those that have the same problem.

This problem is indeed fixed by changing a setting.

1. Go to desktop

2. Open your sound panel

3. Click on your primary input device

4. In the settings window, go to the advanced tab

5. Uncheck the box labeled " Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"

Hope this helped for you and everyone else with the same problem.
