You would download the dvd movie to a file on your hard drive, flash drive or other sufficiently large storage device...just like any other download.
The problem is that Windows Media Player will no longer play any type of DVD movie due to licensing reasons...
If you have Win 8 Pro, you can activate Media Center for $10, and it will play them..
The only other option would be a 3rd party player. There are a number of free ones available to download. VLC is a fairly popular one, as well as 321 Studios Media Player Classic...
At times I use one by Haihaisoft that I like because it has skins that make it look and work like Windows Media Player...You can even select which version of Media Player you want it to look like.
