I have tried to run optimise drives on windows 8 all the drives seem to run and optimise except the " windows RE tools drive needs optimising 13 % fragmentation" when I push optimise as with the other drives it immediately stops the run and returns to
the " is this somehow protected so it can't be optimised.
The defragmentation utility says the partition needs to be optimized because the utility is just being thorough. It doesn't actually know it's a recovery partition, it just knows its a partition.
It completely ok to ignore the message for the RE Tools and Recovery partitions since these partitions being fragmented will never effect the performance or health of the computer even in the event it needs to perform a recovery.
