I am having the same problem. I ran the SFC/scannow without resolving the problem I tried the solution twice. And yes I run it as an administrator. Any MSI installation yields the above described response from the MSI program with no installation occurring.

Hi all,

I am experiencing the same problem when trying to install DragonNaturally Speaking 12. Which should be compatible with Windows 8.
I ran the scan, nothing changed.
Running the setup.exe it says it prepares the windows installer and then I get the box with the text put up by Swaty. When you click the OK, it disappears and nothing happens.

Hope this can be resolved. I really need this program.
Thanks!
H

Problem occurs because of special symbols in path to msi file

For example Ukrainian letter "і" - "C:\Users\Андрій\Downloads"
Just move installation to correct path. "C:\Temp" for example

Hi XperiAndri,

could you tell me how and where I could do that?
I am trying to install from a dvd and am not asked to specify a 'path' of installation. It opens the windows installer automatically.

Tnx!

I came up with a solution for my problem. It may help you with yours. It involves changing the temp directories to the C:\ root directory.

I will give you a tool that will make it easy to make adjustments such as this. In order to
access this tool do the following: right-click anywhere on your desktop and select New Folder.  Rename your new folder:  GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}  Double-click this new folder after it has been renamed and it will open up a menu of options that you can adjust in your system.
About three quarters of the way down this menu under System you will see the option to Edit Environmental Variables for your account. There are two places in this section where the temp directory locations are specified. You need to change the location of the temp directory to the C root directory. So it would look like this C:\temp when you're finished.

Mark,

Thank you so much! Indeed, your solution worked.

Had issues installing BB Desktop Software, plus a Bluetooth driver. Tried everything, but this did it.

The only thing I would like to add is that you have to create a C:\temp folder first, and then all goes just fine.

Will share this at the BB community site, as there are quite some folks struggeling there with the same issues too.

Thanks again

I tried this, but it didn't work when I  tried to install Pro Tools 11 from a DVD and it's compatible with Windows 8. I don't know if I did something wrong or not, but it didn't work for me and I've tried a lot of things already.
