Windows 8 won't shutdown after install Linux on another partition

Hi.. I had Windows 8 working great. But I decided to install OpenSuse Linux 12.3 on another partition of the same hard disk. Everythig was find, now when I turn my computer on, I see the grub asking me for the operating system I want to use. If I choose Windows 8, the system starts as usual, but once I try to shutdown the system, it seems like the system is performing the shutdown process, becuase the screen becomes dark, but the process never finishes and once I press a key, the system displays the "start screen", asking me for the user and password to start...

I had had the same issue before:

I used to have Windows 7 with openSuse. When I upgrade Windows 7 to 8, I installed opensuse again and the same problem occured. I had to reinstall Windows 8 in order to overwrite the master boot loader and after that, I had to resintall the grub in order to be able to use my two operating systems.. Right now I wouldn't like to reinstall Windows 8, because I have a lot of applications.. But I haven't been able to find a solution to shut down the system in Windows 8...

Hi Gerardo,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thanks for posting the question.

As per the description, you are not able to shutdown the computer.

The issue may be resolved by disabling fast startup.

Disable Fast Startup and check if it helps.

a: Open the Control Panel and click on the Power Options icon.

b: Click/tap on the Choose what the power buttons do link on the left side.

c: Click/tap on the Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top.

d: If prompted by UAC then click/tap on Yes.

e: Under Shutdown settings, uncheck the Turn on fast startup box, and click/tap on the Save changes button.
