Windows 8 is running slow...

My Windows 8 laptop started running very slow after I installed the most recent update. The computer is highly unresponsive. I tried disabling some of my unnecessary startup programs (Steam and Google Drive), but now my computer is having issues starting up (I'm writing this on another computer). I really need some help please.
