Windows 8 goes back to sleep after resuming from sleep mode

This is a weird problem.  When I open my case lid or hit the power button to wake the computer, it brings up the Seattle splash screen and the login prompt, but then suddenly goes back to sleep.  I hit the button again, and it wakes, and stays awake.

What is causing this, and what can I do to fix it?

Hey there.  Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem.  My computer still goes back to sleep a second after waking.  Not every time, but regularly.  And never twice in a row.  When it goes back to sleep, and I wake it again, it stays on.

And just to answer your question, this is a new, clean install of Windows 8 x64.

When you say "before we proceed with troubleshooting," do you mean to imply that troubleshooting will occur at some point, or not?

Bravo XecOne. Worked on my Acer Aspire Timeline too!

Latest available BIOS  is about a month old. I was several months behind.

Same here, with Acer 3830. Looks like it's all was Acer-related (PB is now Acer too)
