Windows 8 doesn't shutdown properly; a lot of app settings gone

I've been having this issue for quite a while: if for some reason Windows doesn't shutdown properly (whatever crash: app, power, driver, etc), at the next boot a loot of app settings are gone.

 

For example Skype settings, IE cookies, et-cetera.

 

Is this a common issue or am I the only one experiencing it?

When the computer is crashed unexpectedly due to some issues, it obviously leads to the losing of unsaved settings and data.

 

Of you have already saved the data before the crash and still lose it then it may be some thing else causing the issue.

 

What Skype settings are you losing?

 

Check if you have selected the option to to delete the cookies when the IE quits.
