Unable to turn on windows defender or norton antivirus

Hi,

I am experiencing three issues with Windows 8.

1. I am unable to turn on Windows Defender or Norton Antivirus from Action Centre. I click on the program and click turn on. It does nothing, not even an error.

2. I am unable to run flash content in Internet Explorer which is built in Windows 8. I can run the same web site with all contents in firefox but I would prefer to use IE which I am not able to.

3. Somehow speed bit is installed in my IE and I am unable to get rid of it.

could someone help please.

Cheers.

Answer

Norton Anti-Virus was updated to support Windows 8 in late September of this year. If you created an Symantec account when you installed NAV then you can upgrade to the latest version as your product key will be listed as part of your account information.

Uninstall NAV 2012, download the latest version from Symantec's web site and use your key to activate it.

Norton AV Update download link: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=n95

Trial version which can be activated using your 2012 product key: http://us.norton.com/downloads/
