getting error while installing SteamInstall.msi

error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run.

1. When do you get this error?

2. Did you make any changes in the computer recently?

3. Which program/application are you trying to install.

4. Are you using a cd/dvd or using a downloaded file to install?

 

Method 1:

Check the status of Windows installer service and make sure it is started

Follow steps

a. In the desktop view, Press windows key + R

b. In the run window type services.msc and press enter.

c. From the services window search for windows installer and double click on it.

d. Under the general tab, check the services status.

e. If the status is stopped click on start and then ok.

f. Now try to install the program/application which you were trying to install earlier.

 

Method 2:
If you  still have  issues, unregister and reregister windows installer.
Follow steps:
a. In the desktop window, press windows key + R.

b. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

c. Again in the desktop window, press windows key + R

d. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.
