Hi,

Thank you for posting the question on Microsoft Community.

It looks that you are getting error 0x6D9 and you are unable to install or update Apps.

Let me ask you few questions.

1) When do you get this error?
2) What is the exact/complete error?
3) Have you installed any third party antivirus or Security system on your computer?
4)Did you make any software or hardware changes to your computer?

5) What happens when you try to update and install the app?

6) Is this issue specific to a particular app?

For more infomation, Windows firewall in Windows 8 relies on the following two services. In other words, these are the dependency services for Windows Firewall.

1. Base Filtering Engine (BFE)
2. Windows Firewall Authorization Driver (MPSDRV)

Please follow the troubleshooting methods given here.

Method 1: Stop and start services in services.msc.

Please follow the steps given below to stop and start the services:

a) Press Windows Key and R on desktop.
b) Write ‘services.msc’ and hit Enter without quotes.
c) Locate the service “Windows Firewall”.
d) Right click on it and stop it.

After stopping this service, Start the service again by selecting Start on a right click. Make sure that Start type is set to Automatic

Check for the issue now.

Method 2: Follow the commands given here.

a) Press “Windows Key + Q” to open Charms Bar.
b) Type “cmd” without quotes in the search box.
c) On the left pane, right click on the “cmd” option and select “Run as Administrator”.

d) In the command shell type the following command and press Enter after each command.

netsh advfirewall reset
net start mpsdrv
net start bfe
net start mpssvc
regsvr32 firewallapi.dll

e) Confirm any box that comes up by clicking OK. The result on the last entry should say that it succeeded.

Method 3: Temporarily disable all the third party security software  and Windows Firewall and then check if this fixes the issue.

Temporarily disable third party security software, antivirus software installed on your computer temporarily.

You can follow the steps given below to turn off Firewall.

a)      Press Windows Key + X key.

b)      Select Control Panel.

c)      Click on Windows Firewall.

d)      Select Turn Windows Firewall On or off on the right had side of the panel.

Select the Radio buttons Turn off Firewall under Private and Public network settings

Warning: Security software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
