Windows 8 Constantly drops internet connection - why?

Why does my brand new windows 8 notebook CONSTANTLY loose internet connection even though router indicates signal is ok? Note: my other wireless devices do not loose their connection - only my new notebook.

The issue reported is internet connection drops. We need more information to assist you in a better way.

 

1.      Which anti-virus software are you using?

2.      Did you make any recent changes in the internet settings?

3.      Did you perform a speed test? If yes, are you getting the speeds offered by your Internet service provider?

4.      Did you update the Network adapter drivers?

5.      Is it wired or wireless connection?

6.      Are you using Internet Explorer? If yes, is it Desktop version or Modern UI Internet Explorer?

7.      What is the make and model of network adapter installed in the computer?

 

Please try these methods and check if this helps in resolving intermittent internet connection issue.

Method 1: Run Inbuilt troubleshooters.

 

Step 1: Internet Explorer Connection troubleshooter.

 

a.       Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.

b.      Type troubleshooting in the search box and then press enter.

c.       Select Troubleshooting. Click on view all and select Internet Connections.

d.      Click next and follow the on-screen instructions.

 

Step 2: Perform Network adapter troubleshooter.

 

a.       Press Windows + W key on the keyboard..

b.      Type troubleshooting in the search tab and press Enter.

c.       Click View all on left panel.

d.      Click Network Adapter, new window will popup.

e.       Follow the on screen instructions.

 

 

Method 3: Temporarily disable firewall.

Warning:

You shouldn’t turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall turned on. Turning off Windows Firewall might make your PC (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage from worms or hackers.

 

 

Method 4: Update the Network adapter drivers.

a.       Press Windows + x, select Device Manager.

b.      Expand Network adapter.

c.       Right click the Network Adapter drivers.

d.      Click Update drivers.
