"windows 8 cannot automatically detect network proxy settings"

Several times daily on my new Windows 8 I get the message "Windows could not automatically detect the network's proxy settings". I then use the troubleshooter which detects the setting and am back in business, but why should I have to do this every hour or so? Having been on Windows Support the same problem is raised, but answers always appertain to Windows 7, nothing on Windows 8.  Sometimes the message is "The default gateway is not available". Am using wireless connection and had no problem at all when using Windows 7, it's only since downloading 8 it's become a pain. Anyone out there have any answers please?
