Qualcomm Atheros wifi connectivity problem with windows 8

I am having this problem since a past few days and have searched the web but couldn't find the solution.

I have a Sony Vaio E Series VPCEH28FN laptop. It has got Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. I recently installed Windows 8 Enterprise edition on my laptop. Initially my wifi worked perfectly without a hitch. A few days earlier my wifi started to drop my wifi connection and wont connect for sometime but after that will connect after a few restarts and uninstalling and reinstalling the wifi driver.

Now it has disconnected from the past 2 days and isn't connecting at all. I have tried everything from updating my wifi driver to the latest version to uninstalling and reinstalling my wifi driver, resetting the router, deleting the connection and reestablishing it, restarting the laptop. I also opened my laptop and checked whether my wifi switch had any loose connections which it didn't. I also have the latest updates of my windows 8 installed and the driver updated to latest version.

Earlier i was using Windows 7 home edition and my wifi worked fine. It gave the disconnection problem once but it was solved by updating my wifi driver and never had the problem again.

Please help.

From the issue description, I understand that you are unable to connect your Sony Vaio E Series VPCEH28FN laptop to your WiFi network for the last 2 days. It seems that you have already tried almost all the troubleshooting steps and still it does not work. I would like to have additional information regarding this issue.

 

1.       How did you update the Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter drivers in your laptop?

2.       Is the wireless signal showing full signal strength on your computer?

3.       Are there any other wireless devices which are working fine under the same router?

4.       Are you able to find the WiFi Network from the computer?

 

I would suggest you to try these methods and check if that work.

 

Method 1: Switch off the other Wireless devices to check if the issue is caused by the signal interference.

 

If you have any other wireless devices such as cordless phones etc near to your laptop, you may switch off them and check with the issue.

 

Method 2: Reset the Router once again and check

 

I would suggest you to first power off the modem, router and laptop. Then power on the modem, then the router, and then finally the laptop in that exact order, allowing 60 seconds in between each device to enable the device to be fully booted and able to accept the connection.

 

If still the issue persists, then try the next method and check.

 

Method 3: Resolving Wired and Wireless Network Problems
