after installing windows 8: connected with my wifi but internet pages wont load from any browser...?

Hi,

Thank you for posting the question in Microsoft Community. As I understand, you are facing issues while connecting to the internet. I understand that it must be frustrating, but rest assured, we are here to help fix the issue and guide you in the right direction.

It would be grateful if you would like to answer the following questions:

1.    Were there any changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

2.    What is the complete and exact error message?

3.    Which web browser are you using on the computer?

Method 1:

First, I would suggest you to refer to the link and check if it helps:

Why can't I connect to the Internet?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/cant-connect-to-internet

Method 2:

First, verify the extent of the problem. Can you view any webpage? Can you view only a few WebPages? To test this, follow these steps:

a. Start Internet Explorer.

b. Click each link in the following list to see whether the error occurs. Or, enter one address at a time in the Address bar, and then press Enter after each one. ◦http://www.microsoft.com

http://www.msn.com

http://support.microsoft.com

If the error message does not appear when you try to view these websites, the problem is probably limited to the one affected website. The site may be temporarily offline, or it may be experiencing other issues. Wait a few minutes, and then try to access the site again.

If you still can’t access the website or the same error message appears when you try to view the websites listed above, go to the next method.

Method 3:

I would suggest you to follow these steps and run the Internet connections troubleshooter:

a. Press Windows key + W to search Settings.

b. Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting in the results displayed on the left side of the screen.

c. In the new window, click View all which is towards the left side of the screen.

d. In the list of options, click on Internet Connections.

e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you are still facing the issue, please reply and we will be glad to help you.

Thanks.

Rohit S

I have a similar problem.

I have pinged the websites on command prompt which seem to work however when i load up IE and type in a website it just says 'waiting for google.com'.

frustrating as it was working originally on windows 8 for a week and then just stopped.

Turned out to be a VPN issue.  I forgot I needed to have a config script in the LAN settings...all good now!
