Internet speed gets slowed down In Windows 8 Pro.

I am using Windows 8 Pro for one month. I noticed the slowing down of web browsing speed after few hours of starting Windows. But direct downloading using download manager(FDM) works fine. Also downloading of torrents works fine. But web browsing gets slowed down. Also video streaming from youtube and similar sites get slowed down.

I keep all of my software's and Windows 8 updated. Almost all my software are freeware or opensource. I use trend micro internet security 2013 as security software.

I also noticed in TCPView these connections that must have been closed but remains "ESTABLISHED" even after firefox or chrome browser has been closed.

Hi,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community. As per the description internet connection is slow. Provide the following information:

·         Do you get any error message?

·         Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?

·         Are you using Internet Explorer?

·         Is the issue confined to any particular website?

I will help you with this issue. I would suggest you to follow these methods.

Method 1: Disable the security software temporarily.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against virus and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Boot the computer in Safe mode with networking and check if the issue persists. Follow these steps to start the computer in safe mode.

a)    Press the ‘Windows + C’ key on the keyboard.

b)    Click on settings, change pc settings and then general.

c)    Scroll down to advanced startup, click restart now.

d)    Click on troubleshoot, advanced options, Startup Settings.

e)    Click restart, select safe mode and then press enter.

Note: Restart the computer to start in normal mode.

Step 2: If the issue does not persist in safe mode with networking, perform a Clean Boot  to see if there is any software conflict as clean boot helps to eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After performing the troubleshooting steps in clean boot, follow How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot section from the article to start the computer to Normal startup mode.

Method 3: Follow the steps from the article.
