broadband connection drops out showing error 615. Then tries to reconnect via dial up, but shows same fault again

To assist you better I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:


1)      Are you using the Wired, Wireless or the Dial up Internet Connection?

2)      What is the make and model number of the computer?

3)      Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue? 

4)      Who is the Internet Service Provider?


I would suggest you to follow the steps and check.


The Windows error message 615 usually pops up on the screen when the computer is not able to properly detect the installed modem. This type of error message is caused, more often than not, by the incompatibility of the computer's driver with the said modem. However, Windows error 615 also occurs when the modem is not properly mounted on the port or hub, the communication port (COM), it is using. In addition, the driver or modem may not be installed properly.


Method 1: Run the Internet Connection Troubleshooter and check.


Internet connections troubleshooter allows check for any errors or incorrect settings and fixes them. You can refer these steps to run this troubleshooter:


a)      Click on Windows key + W to search Settings.

b)      Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.

c)       In the new window click View all on the left pane.

d)      In the list of options, click on Internet Connection.

e)      Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
