Windows 8 Scan and Repair drive (C:) after scan is complete.

My laptop automatically restarted and displayed " Scanning and Repairing Drive (C:)" I waited and the process finally finished. Everything was rebooted and I was sent to the log-in page. After I logged in, everything was blank. My background is complete black, and every icon disappeared. I tried going to the startup menu using the Windows Key and it's not functioning. I tried rebooting it, but it always the same result.

Run the Diagnostics with the extended hard drive test to make sure your hard drive is OK. Get the directions for running the diagnostics from your computer maker's support site. Or-You can try rebooting and tapping F12 as soon as you reboot--don't wait for any screen-- to get to a boot menu with the option to run the tests. If the drive test fails and the computer is still under warranty, contact the maker for a replacement.

If you made a Repair or Recovery disk, boot to it for more options.
