Why Window 8 does not detect my HDMI output connection?

I just upgrade 2 hp (a laptop and a computer) to Windows 8 and my HDMI disappeared from my list of devices.

I searched by "HDMI stopped working after upgrade to windows 8 Pro."

There are 3 pages about the same problem but no answers.

Hope Microsoft will resolve this issue and send me the update.

So this solution did not work

So far, I've tried:

1. Using a brand new HDMI cable

2. Uninstall and install Intel HD 4000 Graphics Driver

3. Uninstall and install NVidia Gefore 765M Driver

4. Using the "detect" option in Screen Resolution

5. Using NVidia's "control panel"

6. Updrading BIOS driver

Nothing has worked. It's like if the HDMI port didn't exist at all,  and "screen resolution" is trying to falsely detect a VGA monitor, I spent around 6 hours yesterday trying to resolve this.

I have been having the exact same issue and spending hours to resolve it!  Above is my screen shot.  I tried all the same things as stated in this post.  The volume screen doesn't show the HDMI either.  This is a new PC also, so it shouldn't be having an issue.  Detect Screen does not work.  I have NVidia for my monitor and the HDMI Motherboard port for my additional screen.  I have it plugged into a Sharp TV.  I did this with ease with my old PC.  This isn't working.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Jetson,

I apologize for the delay in response. I would suggest you to disable the on-board audio driver and check if it works with the Nvidia drivers. To do so, try the following steps.
1. Press Windows + X on the desktop screen and click on Device Manager.
2. Expand audio category.
3. Right click on the on-board driver for audio and click on disable.

Make sure, not to disable Nvidia drivers. Anything other than that, in the same category can be disabled.
Also, make sure the HDMI is connected to the Nvidia port and not the motherboard port.

Try the steps mentioned above and let us know if it resolves the issue. Hope this information was helpful.
Thank You

Regards,
Sahil Bali
