Unable to remove drivers for Canon MX350 printer. Error that the driver files are currently being used.

Original Title: Canon MX350 printer

I cannot remove the MP drivers (Canon MX350) from my computer.  In the remove programs the option asks to remove the drivers but it tells me that the driver files are currently being used and aborts.  I have removed all other printer software with no problems.  The printer was set up with wireless connection.

Hi John,

Usually this type of issue may occur due to incompatible drivers or due to settings issues. I would suggest you to try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers in Windows 7 compatibility mode and check if it works.

Step 1: Uninstall the printer.
Follow the steps to uninstall the printer:
a.Press Windows key + X key and click Control panel.
b.Locate the “Device and Printers” option.
c.Locate the Printer, right click on it and select Remove.
d.Restart the computer.

Step 2: Download the Windows 7 drivers from the canon download link.

Step 3: Install the printer in Windows 7 compatibility mode. To install the printer driver, right-click on the setup file and click on ‘Troubleshoot Compatibility’ and select Windows 7 and then follow the prompt.

If the steps provided did not help, then it would be better to contact Canon Support for further assistance with this issue.

Thank you for your input.

I eventually stumbled upon your the directions you quote in step 1 above and finally managed to remove the MP drivers using the remove programs in windows 8.  When this was successfully removed, I followed on by removing all associated programs.  This removed all record of the printer on my PC.

I then reinstalled from the original disk and everything is now working correctly.

Thank you again.
