Unable to record or transmit audio using the LifeChat ZX-6000 Wireless Headset in Windows 8

Hi, I have a Microsoft LifeChat ZX-6000 Wireless Headset that works 100% on WIndows 7 but on the same machine after upgrading to Windows 8 the device can hear audio but cannot record or transmit audio/voice.  The latest LifeChat drivers are installed for Windows 8 and the device is enabled under Recording Devices but when testing recording the green bars do not move at all to indicate it can hear anything.  The microphone level for it is set to 100%.  Any suggestions???

Thanks for your feedback.

Below are my responses but your Method #2 is N/A since this device uses the USB Xbox Wireless Headset Receiver it came with to pair to the headset and not bluetooth.  I have no bluetooth devices to remove and there is no bluetooth on this machine.

Got exactly the same problem with an HP H7000 Bluetooth headset on HP EliteBook 8470p with the latest Broadcom driver stack from the Broadcom site.

Headset microphone works perfectly in Win7 SP1, no mic signal picked up in Win8. Playback is OK, only the microphone part is not functioning.

Settings are all OK, drivers are latest, troubleshooters don't pick up anything. Remove/re-add/re-pair doesn't change anything.

Only strange thing though, is that the Troubleshoot audio recording wizard sees the Headset Microphone - Bluetooth Hands-free Audio device as "The connector for this device is located on the front side of the computer"

How on Earth a wireless Bluetooth device can have a connector on the front side of a computer?
