Q: tv tuner not detected in media center but is in device manager This thread is locked from future replies

My TV card was working well in Win 7 x64, I upgraded to Win 8 MCE, checked the card was recognised and had the latest drivers then installed MCE.

After the install I ran MCE and was told that there was no tuner present!

If anyone can help, otherwise I will be going back to 7.

Hi StuartBrennand,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft community!

You've reached the right forum for your question. As I understand that your TV tuner card is not getting detected in Windows 8.

Method 1
I would suggest you to check if your TV tuner card is compatible with Windows 8.

Method 2
If your TV tuner card is not compatible with Windows 8, then I would suggest you to un-install and re-install the TV tuner card drivers in compatibility mode for Windows 7.

a. Download the drivers from manufacturers website.
b. Right-click on the driver setup files and click on ‘properties’.
c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.
d. Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ to install it.

Method 3: Run the Hardware troubleshooter

a) Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.

b) Type troubleshooter in the search box and then press enter.

c) Click hardware and sound and run the hardware and device troubleshooter.

Hope this information is helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
