Sound is not working after installing Windows 8.

Original Title: Problem with sound
I was unable to hear any sound after install of Windows8. I updated my drivers, ran the troubleshooter and clicked on the volume icons and managed to get my sound to operate temporarily. The next time I started up, no sound again. What's up? Never had this problem with Vista or Windows 7.

Hi RobinPotter,

It looks like after installing windows 8 you are facing an issue with sound.

It would be grateful if you can reply to this question in order to assist you further.

1. What is the make and model of the computer?

drivers from the manufacturer's website?

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps.

Refer the steps from the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.

Sound issue refer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/no-sound-help#no-sound=windows-8&v1h=win8tab1&v2h=win7tab1&v3h=winvistatab1&v4h=winxptab1

Method 2:

I would suggest you to check the device status in device manager when sound stops working.

Press Windows Key +R, type devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manager.

Note: If the driver is not compatible with Windows 8 I would suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode.

Refer the steps:

a. Download the Drive from the manufacture’s website, Right click on the setup file and select Properties.

b. Click the compatibility tab, tick the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows.
