Roland MDX 40 Vpanel

I am trying to get a Roland MDX-40A 3D CNC mill operable under Windows 8. I have successfully loaded all other related Roland software for the machine, and that all appears to work correctly EXCEPT FOR the "VPanel" module, which cannot (or does not) communicate with the machine via USB port.  A different Roland program will successfully access the machine and seems to perform properly.

But VPanel MUST be run before any other package in order to "set the zero" of the machine, and it gives me an error message "The machine is not found.  Make sure that the connection cable is connected securely and the machine is switched on" with "Reseek" and "Exit" buttons in the control window.

As best I can determine, the cable "is" securely conntected, and the machine "is" turned on.

Hi,

Thank you for reaching us out on Microsoft Community forums. As per your issue description I understand that you are not able to install the VPanel program in Windows 8.

Method 1:

I suggest you to install the latest drivers for this device:

Method 2:

Step 2:

I suggest you to install the program in compatibility mode and check.

Refer to the link to install the program in compatibility mode.

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows.

Unfortunately, I have done all of the above with no luck. I "did" install the driver, and the Windows
system (and "some" Roland software) "see" it (i.e. the Roland MDX-40A shows up with the rest of "printers", and the Roland Modela module sees the driver and activates the mill through the USB connection).  Which says to me that the driver "is" installed, probably correctly.

I've worked through every setting I can find in "compatibility mode" for "Windows XP" for the Roland VPanel module, as that is what the Roland software was running correctly under. Zero success.

And I "did" contact Roland Technical Support, and am still waiting the hear from them (if they ever do respond).

But thanks for your attempt.

I had this problem for a while and nothing of the above steps helped me. However I installed the Vpanel MDX-40A v1.10 from this link:

http://support.rolanddga.com/_layouts/rolanddga/productdetail.aspx?pm=mdx-40a

When i finished installing the update it finally worked perfectly. Hope this helps.
