Monitor shows out of range 35.4 khz / 43 khz after Windows 8 reboot?

I have a PC running win xp, tried to upgrade to windows 8, then after copying files succeeded, reboot, my monitor shows out of range 35.4khz / 43khz
what could that possibly mean.. does windows 8 native resolution runs at least 1024 x 768? my VGA only support up to 800x600, and 1024 x 768 when driver is installed, my monitor support up to 1360 x 768

how do i install windows 8 on my PC?
my VGA is sis 650_651_m650_m652_740
i tried to install w8 x86 build 9200 rtm

can i upgrade to windows 7 first which can runs on 800 x 600, then install the VGA driver and finally install windows 8?

What is the make and model number of the Computer?

 

I would suggest you to run the Upgrade Assistant before upgrading to Windows 8 Operating System.

Upgrade Assistant checks your PC hardware to see if it meets the Windows 8 system requirements to install on your PC, including features of the processor such as CPU speed, PAE, NX, and SSE2, as well as RAM size and hard drive capacity. It also checks for compatibility of your currently installed apps and devices.

 

Regarding how to install Windows 8 Operating System;

 

Step 1:

 

I would suggest you to check and make sure the computer meet all the requirements for installing Windows 8 Operating System;

At first, i tried Windows 8 upgrade assistant, it says  that sis... driver is compatible, notably with check mark, so i tried, until restart once, nah... black screen, no HDD activity..

so i tried windows 7, the same black screen with out of range text, but with HDD activity, then after a few seconds, the picture finally appear in 800x600 resolution, and after installation was finished, windows 7 runs normally, after installation, i can change the resolution to 1024x768 without any problem, nor out of range things..

it's an old PC though, i just want to keep up my PC with update supported

Model : AsRock G Pro/ GV Pro
RAM : 1 gB
