DVD drive is not recognized in Window 8

Hi, Since I updated my computer (ASUS X44H) to window 8. My DVD drive (Matshita DVD – RAM UJ8B0) is not recognized by Windows anymore. I have tried many different methods to solve this issue. However, no luck in getting windows to recognize my dvd drive. Here few methods that I tried but failed.

Uninstalling the DVD drive in the Device Manager and rebooting my computer

Updating the DVD drive in the Device Manager

Using administrator on cmd and entering

reg.exe add  "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

then reboot

Does anyone have any other solutions

Hi

Have you tried this Regedit .... If you only have one drive, stop at #3... Although it wouldn't hurt to do both.

1. Run cmd as Administrator (right click lower left corner when Start pops up)

2. Type: or copy and paste

reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

3. Hit Enter

4. Type: or copy and paste

reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice2 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000002

5. Hit Enter

6. Reboot

Hi,

If you have a Toshiba,

There are two Toshiba programs that seem to be causing problems, and need uninstalled.

Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator and Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.

If you have any CyberLink programs installed, PowerDVD for example, that may be a problem.

There can sometimes be issues with older Roxio and Sonic programs also.

One other thing you might try is to install Adaptec's UDF Reader Driver.

There have been a number of occasions where this has solved the problem, Here is a link.
