Original Title: hp DVDRAM GT50N has a driver problem

I am unable to get CD's to play or record.   Looks like the whole drive is missing from the computer.  Troubleshooting gives me the following error hp DVDRAM GT50N has a driver problem.  Any suggestions on how to fix this.  I am operating with Windows 8.

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.

Great! Thanks for marking this as the answer.
