Atheros AR5006x (AR5413) Wireless adapter not working after Windows 8 upgrade

I've recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8, and my wireless network card didn't seem to be working in Windows 8.  It gets an error code 10 (Device cannot start).

I've tried downloading and using the latest Windows 7 drivers for the card and I've also tried using whatever drivers seemed to be proporting themselves as Windows 8 drivers, with no luck.

Has anyone been able to fix this problem?

1) What is the make and model of the computer?

Since Windows 8 is a new release so there might not be drivers designed for Windows 8 yet. You can download the drivers designed for Windows 7 and install it on the Windows 8 using the compatibility mode. Follow the steps.

 a) Enter the Start screen
b) Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar (If you have a touchscreen: Touch the right edge of your screen and slide your finger to the center of the screen to show the Charms bar)
c) Search for Troubleshooting, Click Settings in the right column.
d) Click Troubleshooting. Click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows
e) Click Next, select Not Listed. Click Next
f) Click Browse and select the installer that you downloaded using the link above.
g) Click Next, click Troubleshoot program
h) Check The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now box
i) Click Next, select the last known working operating system for this driver (probably Window 7)
j) Click Next.

Run the Hardware troubleshooter and check.
Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.
b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.
c. Now type Hardware Troubleshooter in the search option.
d. Click on Hardware troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.
You may also contact the computer manufacturer for assistance.
