windows 8 increases my graphics memory, but games lagg?

I had windows 7 installed on my PC, then i upgraded it to win 8 so that i could keep all my files.
on win7, my VGU showed 185mb, on win8 it shows 254mb.
but instead of increasing the games performance, i am experiencing MAJOR framerate issues.
on windows 7 my games could run perfectly without any lagg.
(Freelancer, GTA San Andreas, Simcity 4, NFS underground 2 and some others)
i have an old PC,
pentium 4 @ 2.66GHz
128 intgrated intel VGU
how do i rectify this ?
