Hi,

I have just upgraded to Windows 8. Is there a straight answer here? Is there a fix for installing Pokerstars on Windows 8. The compatibility solution does not work. 

Any Windows 8 experts out there.....have a go yourself and try to get it to work. If it does not work. Just say so. Please no cyrptic answers.

Straight answer: it's a problem for the Poker Stars people to figure out.  They made the application, they support it.  Windows 8 does not need the game to do what it does, but Poker Stars needs an OS to do what it does.  ;-)

I believe the problem is windows 8. Curse the day when I bought a new laptop and this **** was forced on me. Have same problem updating Adobe. It stops before finish. We are all guinniepigs to Microsoft. Apple must be blessing windows 8 for all new clients that got fed up with problems.

Windows 8/8.1 was not forced on you by anyone - the proof is in your own statement about Apple.  You had choices and if you did not research a product (even if you just 'expected' for every product to be exactly the same as the last - which rarely happens with any product) before spending money to purchase it or didn't take it back immediately when you realized it wasn't what you bargained for - then *some* of the issue was propagated by you.  ;-)

 

Updating Adobe _____ (what)?  Adobe doesn't make a single product - which one are you having issues with?

 

Adobe Flash Player is 'integrated' into Internet Explorer.  Adobe Flash Player is 'integrated' into Google Chrome.  You need to install Adobe Flash Player for Mozilla Firefox.

 

Adobe Reader can happily be installed on Windows 8 STD/PRO - are you having issues installing Adobe Reader (or one of the 'enterprise' products?)

 

Adobe Shockwave is used less frequently - but is that the Adobe product in question here?

 

What about one of their other products (PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc.)?

 

I assume your issue is not Poker Stars...

Someone forced you to buy that HP Pavilion with Windows 8/8.1 pre-installed?  Rough Windows 8/8.1-centric, 'use it as it comes' and don't look for anything else (and no returns) neighborhood?

HP sells other systems with other operatings systems - even Windows 7 at the date that was posted.  ;-)

Options almost always exist, seldom are people actually forced by anything more than their own impatience combined with perceived time (or lack thereof) and disinterest (until it has already affexted them) in the situation at hand.  (Someone may throw out something about 'trust' here - but we are talking about products that change historically *and* have received similar reactions to such change historically as well . . .)
