Searching for files in Sub-folders using "File Explorer"

Searching for know files using "File Explorer" seems to search up to but not greater than 6 levels of sub-folders.

I tried searching for the shortcut, "Notepad" and began the search beginning at C:\Users.  No results were forthcoming.

The shortcut does exists on my computer in : -

C:\Users\David\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories.

If I start to search from C:\..........................AppData, the search finds the shortcut successfully.

I also created a dummy file in the same location as Notepad and tried to search for it. I got the same null result until I searched from within 6 levels of sub-folders.

I just bought this PC new 2 days ago and updated to the latest Windows 8 files.  I have not added any other application software.

Although there are similar problems reported on the Forum I haven't seen anything that solves the problem.

Perhaps others reading this could try the very same search to see if they have the same results and give helpful suggestions.

Regards

Dave
