how to view 2 windows side by side

On Windows 7 you could look at 2 open windows side-by-side both having equal viewing. Does Windows 8 have a similar feature?

Yes.   It's called Aero Snap.   Still works in W8.   Note though that you need an edge to bump your pointer into as a window goes through it.   In the case of multiple monitors you can't use the joining edge for that so if you were trying to do it with the middle of 3 monitors I suppose it could get really tricky.   <eg>

However, I vaguely remember reading about a keyboard shortcut which might do the same procedure.   If so you wouldn't have to worry about which edges were "bumpable"...
