Error: oX80070079 Semaphore timeout period has expired

I sent a large pdf file using a file uploader program.  Since then, when I try to access my WD external drive, I receive the error message: Error: oX80070079 semaphore timeout period has expired.  Rebooting does not help at all.  I can unplug the hd from my windows 8 laptop and plug it in on my windows 7 laptop and it works just fine.  I did not have this problem until I sent the file out.

1.      Which uploader you are referring to?

 

                                       

Please follow the methods and check if it works fine.

 

Method 1:

Perform disk Defragmenting and check.

If this does not work move the data to any other drive and check if it works.

 

Method 2:

Since the external hard drive is working on different computer, I suggest you to backup the data on the external hard drive and then format it.

You may also perform a clean boot and check if program or service is causing the problem.

It was called "YouSendit" - an att.netmail application - enabled sending files up to 2gb in size.  It all works just fine on my win 7 laptop.. no problems at all.
