Can the ESD folder be moved to a different harddisk than root of c?
I have an ESD folder of around 2.6GB on the root of my C drive. Can this be moved to another hdd or it is mandatory for it to be on C only?
Asking since I have a program that takes backup as disk images of C drive every month and this particular folder unnecessarily increases file size by the same amount.
Would changing the location of this installation folder of windows 8 cause any trouble in day to day functioning of windows?
If I try the refresh or reset option, will it search for the ESD folder in C or will it ask for folder path?
Yes you can move the ESD folder to another drive or even a flash drive and it will have no effect on the day to day running of your PC.
If you have created a Disk image from the ESD folder, there is not real need to even keep the ESD folder, (Personally I have copied to a flash drive as a back up / if I happen to damage/loss my W8 installation disk)
Refresh / recovery use the Recovery drive / installation disk not the ESD.
A computer is a device, that requires human input to operate efficiently. Alas we humans do fail!!!!
