Windows 8 Mail app will not sync AOL contacts

I installed  Windows  8 Pro and mail does not recognise my Outlook account despite me putting in the right email and password. I eventually installed my AOL mail account directly but I have no access to my contact email adresses. So the inbox synching works fine with AOL directly but I cant send an email from the app unless I actually know the address and enter it manually

HI mar97,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft community!

I will definitely help you with the issue you’re facing.

Follow the steps

Step1: Update your app

Keeping your app up to date is one way to make sure that it keeps working. You’ll see a notification in the Store whenever an update is available for your app.

To update the app, you can either tap or click the notification or follow these steps:

1.      On the Start screen, tap or click Store to open the Windows Store.

2.      Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)

3.      Tap or click App updates. If you haven't signed in to the Windows Store, sign in using your Microsoft account.

4.      Tap or click Check for updates.

5.      If updates are available, swipe down on or right-click the app updates you want, and then tap or click Install.

Step2: Sync the app license

If a license for an app is out of sync with the license installed on your PC, the app might stop working.

To sync your app licenses, follow these steps:

4.      Tap or click Sync licenses.

Step3: Contact the app developer

If your apps are up to date and the licenses are synced, but you’re still experiencing problems with an app, use the support info listed on the app’s description page to contact the app developer for help.

To view the developer’s app support info, follow these steps:

1.      On the Start screen, tap or click Store to open the Windows Store.

2.      Search or browse for the app, and then tap or click it.

3.      Tap or click Overview, and then tap or click the support link for the app under Learn more. The link will open an email message for you to contact support or will take you to a support website.

Notes:

·         In some cases, an app might be removed from the Windows Store for violating the Terms of Use. When this happens, you'll receive an email notifying you that the app will no longer be available in the Store and the app will no longer work on your PCs.

·         Microsoft doesn’t provide technical support for apps created by other developers. You’ll need to contact the developer for technical support.

Hi mar97,

Syncing your AOL contacts is not available within the Mail or People app.  I would suggest going to both apps and leaving feedback regarding this function.

In the app, press Windows key + C to get to the Charms bar

Click on Settings

Click on Feedback

Follow the prompts and questions from there.

Thanks!

Did you even read the post?  They asked why their AOL contacts are not syncing.  It's like you guys actually want Windows 8 to fail.

While I don't disagree with your opinion of the mail app, remember Windows 7 came with no e-mail program at all. Why not install one like you would have had to do with Win7?
