unable to shut off windows 8 Mail app notification sounds

I am using Win 8 Pro.  I keep hearing a ding when email comes in.  I have shut off all notifications, sounds are set to "no sounds" and the live update of the mail app tiles is shut off.  Any thoughts???

Hi Kenny,

Thank you for choosing Windows 8 and for providing us an opportunity to assist you.

I understand that you want to turn off the notification sound in Windows 8. I will try to help you with this.

Bring up the Charms Bar By pressing Windows key+C or by moving the mouse cursor to the lower or upper right corner of the screen. Select Settings here, and on the next screen change PC settings at the bottom. This opens the start page control panel where you can make modifications to this part of the operating system.

Click on Notifications here. You now have the following options:

•Turn off app notifications for all existing and future apps

•Turn off app notifications on the lock screen

•Turn off notification sounds

•Turn off notifications for individual apps

Please post back if you are still experiencing the issue. I will be glad to provide you with the additional options available that you can utilize to get the issue resolved.
