my wndows 8 mail will not sync, so therefore i can not get any mail

my mail stop working a week ago. I couldn't get any new mail to come up. After trying for days I finally deleted my mail app and downloaded a new windows 8 mail app. So now a line comes across and says mail will not sync. Now what do I do?
