Windows 8 or Mac OSX?

I'm a long, long time Microsoft user and have for years defended Windows over Mac OSX ... when Win8 came out I eagerly grabbed a copy and tossed it on a machine and like many was so disappointed. It's a giant step backwards with regards to usability and little to no options to "configure" the UI .... so when it recently came time to replace my desktop I halted ... because I just did not want to have to deal with Win8 ... I waited patiently for Microsoft to address the unrest ... nothing but silence.

So ... I just purchased an iMac ...

Just posting here because Microsoft needs to know that long time customers are being driven away ... I really wish it were not so, I've been a fan for so long ... but what can you do with such an awful (and expensive) OS?

You presumably are unaware that Windows 8 has two modes - the modern GUI,  and Desktop mode that looks and behaves just like Windows 7?

On your Start screen, click the Desktop tile to go into the Desktop.

You can tell your computer to boot into the Desktop mode by default (and reinstate the Start button as well) by using one of these utilities:

How to regain the start menu in Windows 8:

Small cost – currently US$5

I use the Stardock product and you can't tell from looking at my computer that I am not running Windows 7...

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
