Keyboard display problem after upgrading to Windows 8 Pro.

Earlier I was having Windows 7 O.S. in my Dell laptop. I purchased Widows 8 Pro online and installed in the laptop. After this when I press Shift+2, " is printed on the screen. Again when Shift+3 is pressed. £ is displayed. How it can be set right?

Hi,

The default language on the computer is a non-U.S. English (United States) language it will be English (United Kingdom).

In this scenario, a non US keyboard layout is used in the keyboard layout that is the reason you are facing the issue.

Method 1: I would suggest you to change the keyboard layout to English (United States) and

check if it helps.

a)      Press the ‘Windows + X’ key on the keyboard.

b)      Select Control Panel and click on Enter.

c)       Select Clock, language and region.

d)      Click on Language, click on “Advanced settings” from the left panel.

e)      Select English (United States) under Override for Windows display language and Override for default input method section.

f)       Click on “Save” button.

Method 2: Refer to the link and follow the steps and check.

Add a keyboard layout

If you add a new language to Windows, a default keyboard is also added so you can type in that language.

Refer to the section “To make a keyboard your default keyboard” from the link.
