How do I change mouse to single click in Windows 8

I am using IE and Windows 8 and I can't figure out how to change my mouse from double click to single click.  I've tried the 'old' way, but can't find an option to change it.  am I missing something?

What do you mean by the old way?

 

Here’s what you can try:

 

a.     Press Windows key + X on the keyboard at once.

b.     Select Control Panel. Then, select Folder Options.

c.      Under General Tab, in Click items as follows, select the Single Click to open an Item option.

d.     Click on OK to save the setting

 

Restart the computer for good measure.

  Great response but you are missing a step.  Folder options are available by selecting the appearance and personalization icon or by changing the view from category to small or large icons.
