Quicktime error on startup = Please install Apple application support

Machine = Dell Studio running 64 bit Windows Vista with SP 2

I installed the latest version of Quicktime.  There was an error at the end of the install, but no error message beyond "Windows Installer has Stopped...."  Nothing specific.
When I try to run Quicktime, I get the "please install apple application support' error.
I did some research and found that it was suggested that I re-register the vbscript.dll.  I tried this, but got an error code = 0x80004004 message saying the call to the registration server failed.
I don't know if this has anything to do with the original problem.
Suggestions please???

Thanks,
bob

Hi bobincolorado,

What was the exact error message which you got at the end of the installation?

I would suggest you to follow these steps.

Step 1:

Uninstall the Quick time player completely from the computer using disk cleanup.

Step 2:

Save the installation file to desktop and start installing in Run as Administrator Mode.

Right click on the setup file of the program and choose Run as Administrator to install and check if the issue is resolved.

I would also suggest you to refer the below mentioned links.
