Driver code 52 error with signed drivers and windows update issues.

OT: **FIXED** patch tuesday dec 2014 kb3004394 - driver code 52 error w/ SIGNED driver! & MAJOR win update issues.

after installing all updates from todays patch tuesday, i wanted to install the latest amd catalyst omega driver 14.12, released today as well (http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/), and everything installed correctly, except for the display driver and amd hd audio device driver, which windows didnt install since they seemed unsigned?!

the drivers are WHQL signed!

then did a clean install of the previously installed ccc (14.11.2), and it failed with the same error... so it must be one of todays windows updates that messed something up, since 14.11.2 installed perfectly before.

Problem is I can not uninstall - seems like anything to do with system changes I get the "server referal error or nothing happens. Th KB3004394 really messed up the win7 64 pro. Dam it!

try turning UAC completely off, then uninstall KB3004394, or in safe mode

Hi,

Some customers are experiencing an issue with Knowledge Base 3004394 and we have expired the affected updates. We encourage Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 customers who are impacted, to uninstall the updates/KB3004394. Once ready, we will re-release the updates.

Thank you.

I have been remote controlling customer's computers today to handle this problem.

Uninstalling KB3004394 didn't fix the problem.  The uninstall was followed by a reboot.  After the reboot I did an uninstall (with delete) of the affected hardware and attempted to reinstall.  It still go the code 52. The only fix I have been able to succeed with is to use system restore to undo all of the updates.  But most of my customers only have a week or so of restore data, so that solution will disappear for me soon.

Can you test and then describe the full procedure to uninstall the KB3004394 and then get the affected hardware installed.

How do I uninstall KB3004394.  I need simple instructions as I am a neophyte when it comes to computers.  I trusted the auto updates to work.

From the moderator on page 1... pretty succinct:

Let us know if this fixes it for you.  It didn't work for me.

Go to Control Panel

go into "programs and features"

then into "view install updates" (at the top left)

scroll down to the "Microsoft Windows" section.

uninstall KB3004394

I have a Dell windows 7 laptop and I did as you said.  There was no KB3004394 and I got that number when I googled error code 800706F7.

I have been having problems with updates not installing and I get "failed to install" with the above error code.  I try over and over again to install up dates, there are at least 29 but can't get past the error message.  This has been going on for almost a week.

Hi All,

We have released KB3024777 to address issues that some customers were having with KB3004394. Customers who have Windows Updates enabled do not need to take any action. Customers who have disabled automatic updates will need to uninstall KB3004394 manually by following the guidance in KB3004394.

Thank you.

If people can't install updates as a result of KB3004394, how exactly then can they install KB3024777?  We have folks where MU no longer works.

KB302477 can be downloaded directly from https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3024777.

My environment is Windows7x64 HomePremium SP1, so I downloaded the "
All supported x64-based versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2".

I executed it, but nothing changes.

No way of confirming it might really have been executed, because any messages is not displayed on the screen when executing.
