"Unable to load jit compiler mscorjit dll file may be missing or corrupt please check or rerun setup" when trying to open Windows Media Center.

Original Title: unable to load jit compiler

I have Windows 7 Professional.

When I try to run Media Center I get error message:

ehshell.exe fatal error

unable to load jit compiler mscorjit dll file may be missing or corrupt please check or rerun setup

I tried to disable/enable Media center, but it did not help. Also I tried to apply latest updates, ran sfc /scannow, there is no mediacenterdatastore.db file - useless.

Thank you.

Hi VitikB,

·        Since when are you facing this issue?

·        Do you remember making any changes prior to the issue?

·        Are you referring to the Windows Updates or Media Center updates?

·        Does the issue occur on a different user account (if any)?

I see that you have performed most of the steps. However, you may try the following and see if it helps.

Method 1:  Check for the latest updates for Windows Media Center. To do this, follow these steps:

a.       Click Start, All Programs, Accessories and then Command Prompt.

b.      In the Command Prompt window type “cd \” (without quotes) and press Enter.

c.       Now type “%windir%\ehome\mcupdate” (without quotes) and press Enter. This will check for the latest updates for media center and will install them. Check to see if the problem persists.

Method 2:  Place the computer in a clean boot state to check for the issue. To do so, follow these steps.

a.       Click Start, type “msconfig.exe” (without quotes) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration Utility.

b.      On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box.

c.       On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all. Click OK, and then click Restart. Check to see if the issue occurs.

Note: Make sure you put the computer back to Normal Startup once you are done.

Please report back with the results.

Hello Syed,

Thank you for your reply.

I have installed Windows 7 32-bit a month ago and it was my first attempt to run Media Center. No changes to the system were done recently. Windows Updates and Media player are running fine, and system update is up-to-date. This problem is persistent for all users including Admin.

1. When I try to run mcupdate I have the same error message: "unable to load jit compiler mscorjit dll file may be missing or corrupt please check or rerun setup"

2. I tried second method, same problem.

Thank you for your help again.

Hi VitikB,

·        Was the installation an upgrade or a full installation?

You mentioned that the issue occurs on all user accounts. Let`s create a new user account and test for the issue. Refer to the below mentioned article for the same.
